AKTION CLUB OF WOOD COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES TO HOST 2023 COMMUNITY HONORS AWARD BANQUET. TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE!

The Aktion Club of Wood County Board of Development Disabilities (WCBDD) is pleased to announce they will be hosting the 2023 Community Honors Awards Banquet on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 6PM-9PM at Nazareth Hall. Nazareth Hall is located at 21211 W. River Road in Grand Rapids. Tickets are now on sale (information below).

 

The Community Honors Award Banquet is a night of recognition to honor Wood County community members, individuals served, and employees of Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities for their achievements, dedication, and support to the developmental disabilities community of Wood County. We encourage you to join us in celebration as we recognize those individuals.

 

We strongly encourage you to nominate a person, group, business, or organization for a community honors award to recognize them for their positive impact and achievements. There are seven award categories:

1.      The Community Impact Award: This recognition award honors a person, group, business, or organization who continuously goes above and beyond to make a positive impact in the community for individuals with developmental disabilities. The impact may be the result of any number of extraordinary efforts.

2.      The Cammi Chamberlain Pillar of Character Award: This award recognizes the exemplary services and character provided by an employee at Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities. This person consecutively goes the extra mile to support, empower, and inspire all those associated with WCBDD. This person exemplifies trust, respect, care, fairness, and responsibility.

3.      Volunteer of the Year Award: This award honors a volunteer who gives their time and talents throughout the year to enrich the lives of individuals served by Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

4.      The Empowering Minds Award: This award honors an individual, with or without a developmental disability, who has contributed significant effort volunteering, advocating, educating, or raising awareness for developmental disabilities in the community.

5.      Individual Achievement Award: This award recognizes and honors an individual receiving services from Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities for his or her success in personal achievements.

6.      The Young Pioneer Award: This award honors a family of a young child who receives services from Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities who supports the Board by promoting services, raising awareness, and/or advocating on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities.

7.      Helping Hands Award: This award honors a provider who goes above and beyond to support individuals with developmental disabilities and help them live life to the fullest in the community. The award may be presented to an individual provider or an agency.

You must purchase a ticket to attend the Community Honors Award Banquet unless you are an individual served by WCBDD or an award winner. Tickets are $20 and include a plated dinner. A cash bar will be provided.

Sealed bids will be received by the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (“Owner”), at the office of 1921 E. Gypsy Lane Road – Building B , Bowling Green, OH 43402 on the 12 th of May at 10:00am local time for the: Wood Lane School Play Space and will be publicly opened and read immediately thereafter. Each bid must contain the full names of the party or parties making the same, with an affidavit as to interested parties, and in the case of a corporation not chartered in Ohio, with a proper certificate that such corporation is authorized to do business in Ohio, and shall be accompanied by a Bid Guaranty Bond for the full amount (100%) of the Bid, in favor of the “Owner” or a certified check, cashier’s check, or letter of credit pursuant to Chapter 1305 of the Ohio Revised Code, in the amount of 10% of the Bid, payable to the “Owner”. It is agreed that the bid guaranty shall be for the benefit of the “Owner” pursuant to Section 153.54 of the Ohio Revised Code if the undersigned fails to execute the Contract in conformity with the Form of Contract incorporated in the contract documents and furnish Bond and insurance certificates within ten (10) days after the notification of the award of the Contract to the undersigned. Copies of the Contract Documents are on file and may be obtained directly from Becker Impressions , at cost, none of which will be refunded. Please note that in order to be considered as a “responsive bidder” for this project, you must purchase a set of plans and bid documents, and follow all instructions provided. Bids from contractors who are not on the Plan Holders List will be disqualified. A pre‐bid meeting will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities –  Building B , 1921 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green, OH 43402. Successful Bidders shall conform to the Ohio “Schedule of Prevailing Wages”. The bidder may access the Ohio Department of Commerce, Wage & Hour Bureau at its website for the current edition of wage rates. This Advertisement for Bids document is for use on public projects in conjunction with AIA Document A701, "Instructions to Bidders." Coordinate content with the Instructions to Bidders. Much of this Document consists of Project-specific data. Examples given in the model document text below illustrate possible document content. Use the model text to develop text for specific Project requirements. Revise "Notice to Bidders" Paragraph below to comply with Owner requirements for notification and conduct of public bidding.
