FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES

Family Support Services (FSS) provides supports and services to enable families to care for their family member(s) with disabilities at home. This program is available to any individual eligible for WCBDD services, who has not reached the age of 22, lives with his/her family, and does not have a Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waiver

We Work With Your Family to Ensure Each Unique Need is Met

WE ASSIST IN PROVIDING:

  • RESPITE CARE

    Short term, temporary care, in or out of the family home, using providers requested by family. The provider may not be a family member living in the family home. This includes funding for approved camps, respite care facilities, day care, and child-care programs. 

  • ADAPTIVE EQUIPMENT & INCONTINENCE PRODUCTS

    This includes sensory and educational items/materials and alternative communication devices and accessories.  


    Incontinence products may be purchased or reimbursed for individuals ages three and up.  This includes wipes, cleansing products, and protective pads. 

  • HOME MODIFICATIONS

    FSS may help with the costs of home modifications to help the individual with developmental disabilities. 


     Items may include ramps, grab bars, and fencing (for safety) etc. 

  • SPECIAL DIETS

    FSS will reimburse families for the cost of special dietary needs such as supplements and special formulas

  • PROGRAMS

    Counseling, Training, Education, Therapies, Recreational and Educational programs. 


    FSS may reimburse for some membership fees such as the YMCA, Toledo Zoo, or Imagination Station. 

  • OTHER

    FSS can reimburse for mileage to therapies, programs, specialists’ appointments, and educational programs.  FSS can also reimburse for co-payments for therapies, medical appointments, and prescriptions.  


    This includes services individualized to meet the unique needs of the individual.

 Funding

Families eligible for FSS may be able to request funds for approved services per calendar year. The funds are available dependent upon funding availability and service provider availability.
