CELEBRATING CHAMPIONS IN THE DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES COMMUNITY | COMMUNITY HONOR AWARDS CEREMONY SET FOR APRIL 11, 2025

Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to announce the annual Community Honor Awards Ceremony, a prestigious event recognizing individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the developmental disabilities’ community. This year’s ceremony will take place on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Nazareth Hall in Grand Rapids, OH.
The Community Honor Awards Ceremony is a heartfelt celebration of those who go above and beyond to create a more inclusive and supportive world for individuals with developmental disabilities. The evening will feature inspiring stories, well-deserved recognitions, and a chance to celebrate the dedication of community members who embody advocacy, service, and achievement.
The event will honor recipients in seven distinct award categories:
- The Cammi Chamberlain "Pillar of Character" Award – Recognizing an WCBDD employee who exemplifies trust, respect, care, fairness and responsibility.
- The Community Impact Award – Honoring a person or group who continuously goes above and beyond to make a positing impact in the community for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Empowering Minds Award – Celebrating those who have made outstanding contributions to volunteering, advocating, educating, or raising awareness for developmental disabilities in the community.
- Helping Hands Award – Awarded to an organization or individual dedicated to providing unwavering support and services.
- Individual Achievement Award – Honoring a person with developmental disabilities who has demonstrated perseverance and remarkable accomplishments.
- Volunteer of the Year Award – Recognizing an individual who has selflessly dedicated time and effort to better the community.
- The Young Pioneer Award – Celebrating a young advocate or family who supports WCBDD and makes a meaningful impact through innovation and leadership.
“We are thrilled to host this event to shine a light on the exceptional individuals and organizations that are making a real difference,” said Charese Botjer, Communications and Community Engagement Manager. “Their work uplifts and strengthens our community, and we are honored to recognize their contributions.”
The Community Honor Awards Ceremony promises an evening of inspiration, appreciation, and unity. Community members, advocates, and supporters are invited to attend and celebrate the honorees. Individuals served by WCBDD get in for free, as well as those nominated for an award. Your ticket includes a full course dinner, and a cash bar will be provided.
