SIBSHOPS AT WCBDD

Sibshops are fun opportunities and activities for brothers and sisters who have a sibling with a developmental disability to learn and make connections to other siblings in the community!

WHAT ARE SIBSHOPS?

For the adults who run them and for the agencies that sponsor them, Sibshops are evidence of their loving concern for the family member who will have the longest-lasting relationship with a person who has a disability. However, for the kids who attend them, Sibshops are pedal-to-the-metal events where they will meet other sibs (usually for the first time), have fun, laugh, talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sib with special needs, play some great games, learn something about the services their brothers and sister receive, and have some more fun. Sibshops are also FREE.

WCBDD Sibshops are facilitated by Charese Botjer, Communications and Community Engagement Manager and Joe Bernyk, Community Engagement Specialist.

WHO ARE SIBSHOPS FOR?

Sibs, of course! Most Sibshops are for sibs of kids with special developmental concerns, including intellectual and developmental disabilities. At WCBDD, we offer Sibshops to children between the ages of 7 and 14 and no, you do NOT need to be from Wood County to attend. The goal of Sibshops is to make connections!
