Overview
The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities is committed to providing holistic supports to both individuals and their families. Respite care is an essential part of the overall support that families may need to keep their family member with a disability at home, and provides caregivers with a break from the daily challenges of caring for a child or adult with developmental disabilities. To ensure respite needs are met within our community, we have contracted with I Am Boundless.
Benefits and Uses of Respite
Respite provides planned short-term limited breaks for families spanning from one night to one week at a time. Any individual aged 3 or older receiving Wood County Board of DD services is eligible for respite. These services can help stabilize and improve the emotional and mental well-being of both families and individuals. There are several reasons respite may be utilized including, but not limited to, unforeseen homelessness, family emergencies, or recovery time from medical procedures.
