The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities offers many opportunities for service, socialization, recreation, and friendship through various clubs including People First, AKtion Club, Music Makers, Best Buddies, and Venturing Crew.

People First of Wood County

People First of Wood County is a self-advocacy group for people with developmental disabilities. This group empowers people to speak up for themselves by equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to make improvements in the community and raise awareness about disability rights. We meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday throughout the month from 4:00-4:45 at Entrance D on Wood Lane Campus. AKtion Club

The mission is to provide adults living with disabilities an opportunity to develop initiative, leadership skills, and to serve their communities. We partner with many local organizations to give back to our Wood County Community and help at soup kitchens, build houses with Habitat for Humanity, and more! Music Makers

Music Makers is a group offered by a partnership between the Wood County Board of DD and the BGSU College of Musical Arts. This group is for any person served by the board who has a love for music. If you sing or would like to play an instrument, this is the group for you! Best Buddies BGSU

Best Buddies is a group that fosters one-to-one friendships between college students without developmental disabilities and their peers on campus or in the community with developmental disabilities. This group is offered by a partnership between Wood Count y Board of DD and Bowling Green State University. If you would like to get involved with Best Buddies, please contact Emily Dunipace at



Venturing Crew 352

Venturing Crew 352 is  a co-ed branch of the Boy Scouts of America for people served by the Wood County Board of DD. Venturing emphasizes four main areas: adventure, leadership, personal growth and service. The crew participates in many different activities including camping, canoeing, fishing, archery, museum visits, geocaching, and more!
