The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities offers many opportunities for service, socialization, recreation , and friendship through various clubs including People First, AKtion Club, Music Makers, and Best Buddies.

People First of Wood County

People First of Wood County is a self-advocacy group for people with developmental disabilities. This group empowers people to speak up for themselves by equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to make improvements in the community and raise awareness about disability rights. We meet every other Tuesday throughout the month from 4:00-4:45 at Wood Lane School. AKtion Club

Aktion Club is a service group for people with disabilities. The mission is to provide adults living with disabilities an opportunity to develop initiative, leadership skills, and to serve their communities. We partner with many local organizations to give back to our Wood County Community and help at soup kitchens, build houses with Habitat for Humanity, and more! We meet every other Tuesday throughout the month from 4:00-4:45 at Wood Lane School. To learn more or join, contact Rhonda Kendall at rkendall@woodcountydd.org    

Music Makers

Music Makers is a group offered by a partnership between the Wood County Board of DD and the BGSU College of Musical Arts. This group is for any person served by the board who has a love for music. If you sing or would like to play an instrument, this is the group for you! We meet every Monday from 4:00-5:30 PM between Sept. 30 and Nov. 18.  If you’re interested in joining, please contact Jen Krouse at jkrouse@woodcountydd.org or call 419-315-5115 for more information.

Best Buddies BGSU

Best Buddies is a group that fosters one-to-one friendships between college students without developmental disabilities and their peers on campus or in the community with developmental disabilities. This group is offered by a partnership between Wood Count y Board of DD and Bowling Green State University.
