The recreation program focuses on providing people who have developmental disabilities with opportunities for socialization. The social experiences provided give people the chance to meet others with similar interests, both within the group and in the community. Recreational activities are a great way to form lasting friendships, encourage others, and learn more about living a healthy and active lifestyle.The program is designed to provide fun opportunities that challenge the adults we serve and promote wellness through diverse programming planned each month. We also offer youth programming once a month for people ages 9-17.

Participating in recreational activities can reduce depression, stress, and anxiety as well as build confidence and encourage social skills. It empowers people to participate in meaningful ways within the community and teaches them how to use community resources. it also provides educational experiences that promote healthy living and coping skills.

Meet The Team

The Recreation  Department at Wood County Board of DD is made up of a dedicated team that includes two Recreation Therapists, a Recreation Specialist, a Wellness Specialist and a Recreation/Wellness Coordinator.
