Wood County values the dedication of Direct Support Professionals and is extremely grateful for their talents and hard work. To assist with navigating the ins and outs of the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, Wood County developed a Provider Relations Department to specifically support Providers through the process.  Becoming a Direct Support Professional can make a world of difference in the life of a person with developmental disabilities.  Wood County has supports available to both Independent and Agency Providers serving in Wood County.

There are two ways to be a Direct Support Professional:

Agency Providers are organizations who have employees that work in a variety of settings such as residential, employment, day services, and drop-in support.  Agencies provide Direct Support Professionals with a set schedule, regular pay periods, benefits, trainings/certifications, and billing.  If you are interested in learning more about agencies serving in Wood County visit www.dspohio.org under the “Find A Job”.  If you are interested in establishing a new provider agency with the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD), please click here and a Provider Relations Specialist will contact you.

Independent Providers are self-employed and gain certification to provide support to Individuals as Direct Support Professionals.  Being self-employed and certified through the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities allows the Direct Support Professional the ability to be flexible with their schedule, choose who they are working with, choose their own pay schedule, manage their own billing, and maintain their own trainings/certifications.  Independent Providers are paid at a higher rate in most cases.  For more information about becoming a Certified Independent Provider with the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD), please click here and a Provider Relations Specialist will contact you.
