Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received until 1:00 p.m. EDT on the 13th day of April, 2026, by the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Bowling Green, Ohio, at the Community Supports Building (Entrance C) conference room, 1921 East Gypsy Lane Road, Entrance C, Bowling Green, Ohio, and immediately opened thereafter.

Such proposals as herein concerned shall be for the following described:

ITEM I: Bids for one (1) 2026 or newer, 72-Passenger type C Fuel School Bus, with flat floor and lift (ADA). Propane Fuel System Preferred, Diesel may be bid as an alternate.

ITEM II: A certified check or bid bond in the amount of five (5) percent of the bid must accompany each bid.

ITEM III: Bid prices must be firm for sixty (60) days.

ITEM IV: A signed affidavit relating to delinquent personal property taxes.

Bidding blanks for the same shall be on a prescribed blank and obtained by contacting Lynne Beard, Bus Transportation Supervisor, of the said Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities located at 1921 East Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. All bids shall be properly signed by an authorized representative of the bidder.

All bids shall be sealed and plainly marked “SEALED BID FOR BUS”.

WOOD COUNTY SPECIAL OLYMPICS POLAR PLUNGE INVITES COMMUNITY TO “FREEZE FOR A REASON”

The Wood County Special Olympics program is inviting community members to take part in the Wood County Special Olympics Polar Plunge on Saturday, March 28, at the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 1921 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green. The annual event challenges participants to plunge into icy water to raise funds that directly support local Special Olympics athletes.

Participants may register individually or form teams with friends, coworkers, schools, or organizations. Each participant must raise a minimum of $100 in donations to be eligible to plunge. Organizers have set a community fundraising goal of $10,000, which will help provide year-round sports training, competition opportunities, and inclusive programming for athletes in Wood County.

Event-day activities begin with registration at 11:00 a.m., followed by the program and awards at 12:00 p.m., with plunging beginning at 12:20 p.m. After taking the plunge in the outdoor pool, participants will be able to warm up indoors in the Nichols Therapy Pool.

Registration and Incentives

Participants can register online for $30 ($20 for Junior Plungers) and will receive an official Polar Plunge t-shirt.

New in 2026 - fundraising incentives will be digital only. As participants reach fundraising milestones, they will receive an email with a unique code to claim their rewards online. Once claimed, items will be shipped directly to participants. Organizers encourage registrants to use a valid email address and check spam or junk folders to ensure they receive their codes.

LOCAL CELEBRITIES TAKE THE COURT TO KICK OFF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AWARENESS MONTH

Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) is inviting the community to help kick off Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month with its 2026 Celebrity Basketball Game, taking place on Thursday, March 5, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the BG Community Center, 1245 W. Newton Road.

This annual event features local celebrities facing off against the Wood County Special Olympics Basketball Team in a friendly, fast-paced matchup focused on raising awareness, celebrating inclusion, and supporting the community - all while having a great time doing it.

The evening will include two 30-minute games with a running clock, a fun mid-game contest, and live commentary throughout the event by a DJ and announcer, keeping the energy high from tip-off to the final buzzer.

Adding to the excitement, the Celebrity Basketball Game will be held as a “Black-Tie Affair.” Celebrity participants are encouraged to dress to impress, walk the red carpet, and bring a little glamour to the court.

WCBDD is currently seeking local celebrities and community leaders to participate in the game. No basketball experience is required. Celebrity players receive a free event t-shirt, with additional shirts available for purchase at the event for $15.

Community members are encouraged to attend and cheer on the players. Admission is a non-perishable food item , which will be collected at the door to support local needs.

The Celebrity Basketball Game serves as the official kickoff to Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, a time dedicated to recognizing the abilities, contributions, and inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities throughout Wood County.

March is recognized nationally as Developmental Disabilities (DD) Awareness Month, and the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) is proud to announce a robust lineup of educational, recreational, and community-centered events planned throughout March 2026 and beyond.

While DD Awareness Month shines a spotlight on inclusion, advocacy, and empowerment, WCBDD’s commitment to celebrating ALL abilities extends far beyond a single month. Throughout March, individuals of ALL ages and abilities are invited to participate in meaningful opportunities that promote connection, learning, and community engagement.

Planned events include advocacy initiatives, inclusive recreation and sports, educational workshops, creative arts experiences, and community celebrations - each designed to foster awareness while creating inclusive, welcoming experiences for the entire community.

WOOD COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES LAUNCHES COMMUNITY ACCESSIBILITY AND ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) is proud to announce the launch of its Community Accessibility and Assistive Technology Program, a new initiative designed to expand opportunities and remove barriers for people with disabilities throughout Wood County. This program is made possible through grant funding from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. Offered free of charge to community partners, the program supports local organizations in strengthening accessibility, improving inclusivity, and implementing effective assistive technology solutions.

Grounded in the principles of universal design, inclusion, and sustainability, the program recognizes that true accessibility extends far beyond compliance with regulations. It requires intentional planning, collaboration, and the thoughtful use of technology to ensure equitable participation for all community members.

Participating agencies will receive:

A comprehensive accessibility audit
Training on disability awareness, universal design practices, and assistive technology
Microgrant funding to support projects identified through the audit
Follow-up reviews at 6 and 12 months

Accessibility audits are conducted by a multidisciplinary team that includes occupational therapy practitioners, assistive technology professionals, and individuals with lived experience of disability. This team brings extensive knowledge of ADA standards, universal design, and a wide range of assistive technologies—from low-tech tools like visual timers and adaptive seating to high-tech devices such as communication systems, screen readers, and voice-recognition software.

The audit process includes pre-audit planning, an on-site review of physical, digital, and programmatic accessibility, and an assessment of staff readiness. The team also evaluates how assistive technology can address identified barriers, offering options at different levels of complexity and cost.

Following the audit, each participating agency receives a confidential, comprehensive report with an accessibility score, identified barriers, and clear, customized recommendations. Agencies also become eligible to receive a WCBDD microgrant to support the implementation of their chosen accessibility goals.

Ongoing support is a key component of the program. WCBDD provides training, hands-on technology sessions, technical assistance, and opportunities for agencies to pilot tools before full implementation. Continued guidance ensures that solutions are effective, sustainable, and responsive to user needs.

To promote long-term impact, follow-up evaluations occur at both six months and one year. At the one-year mark, agencies undergo a reassessment, share feedback and success stories, and may earn recognition as an accessibility and inclusion partner, highlighting their leadership in advancing accessibility within Wood County.

Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) is excited to host its 2nd Annual Donuts with Santa event on Sunday, December 14th, from 9AM to Noon at WCBDD Building B, 1921 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green.

This free, sensory-friendly celebration welcomes individuals of all ages and abilities to enjoy a magical morning filled with holiday fun, crafts, games, and, of course, donuts! Families will also have the opportunity to take photos with Santa and warm up with hot cocoa as they enjoy a festive and inclusive environment designed for everyone to experience the joy of the season together.

“Events like Donuts with Santa bring our community together in such a meaningful way,” said Charese Botjer, Communications & Community Engagement Manager at WCBDD. “It’s a chance for children and families of all abilities to share in the magic of the holidays while highlighting our commitment to creating inclusive experiences for all.”

REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS (RFQ) CERTIFIED PROVIDER FOR REMOTE SUPPORT SERVICES FOR THE WOOD COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) is soliciting applications from qualified certified providers interested in providing Remote Support Services for the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Provider(s) with relevant experience and qualifications are encouraged to submit an application.

Remote Support Services will be provided within TwinTech. TwinTech is a supportive technology model home that was opened in Wood County, Ohio in August 2019. The goal of this project was to expand knowledge, awareness, and utilization of remote supports and assistive technology within Wood County. In 2022, the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities expanded the project and moved to a new location in Bowling Green, Ohio. Since its inception, over 1,500 people have toured the program. Seventeen trial stays were also completed in the program, where individuals had the opportunity to have a real-life experience with remote supports. Each year, WCBDD has expanded the program, maintaining a remote support contract, adding assistive technology, and increasing collaborative projects using the home. One of the biggest collaborative projects is with the Wood County Educational Service Center’s Living Classroom, which is housed in the home. The Living Classroom utilizes the home during school hours. Tours are offered during the week. Overnight trial stays will continue to be offered over the weekends and during times when school is not in session.

The purpose of the RFQ process is to identify the most qualified provider for the TwinTech Model Home. The Board reserves the right to make the selection based solely on the qualifications submitted without conducting a formal interview process. This application process is not subject to public bidding under O.R.C. 307.86(D). The provider ultimately selected by the Board will provide trial remote support services for individuals, as directed by the Board. The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities and the selected provider will follow the Free Choice of Provider rule should the individual choose to utilize and purchase remote supports or assistive technology.

1. RESPONSES:

a. Questions and responses must be submitted in writing and addressed to the Board in care of Rhonda Kendall, rkendall@woodcountydd.org

b. All questions must be submitted in writing by November 13, 2025 by 4:30 p.m. All questions will receive a response within two (2) business days. No questions will be accepted verbally and beyond the time listed.

2. SCOPE OF SERVICES:
Required Provider Deliverables:

Provide remote support equipment, including installation, to be used within the model home. Provide consultation for assistive technology (AT) purchases for the model home.

Provide remote support monitoring services for overnight stays as scheduled, primarily Friday-Sunday, in accordance with the ISP.

Attend in-person/virtual individual team meetings as necessary for overnight stays.

Provide technical assistance to the end user related to remote support equipment installed in the home. Participate with tours as scheduled by responding via 2-way communication device during tours.

Maintain DODD certification for remote supports/Assistive Technology Consultation or Support. Collaborate with the Wood County Educational Service Center Living Classroom as needed.

Collaborate with transition programming through the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

3. REVIEW AND PROVIDER SELECTION SCHEDULE:

The schedule is as follows:

Issuance of RFQ – October 27, 2025

Final date to submit questions – November 13, 2025

Application due – November 20, 2025

Selection of providers for interviews – November 24, 2025

Interviews of Selected Providers – December 1, 2025 through December 5, 2025 Proposed Provider notification (board action required) – Week of December 15, 2025 Contract Commencement – January 1, 2026

4. LOCATION:

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities desires to expand the use of remote support services and assistive technology throughout the county. A model home will be located at 909 Klotz Road, Bowling Green, OH 43402. The county board will own and maintain the property.

5. REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum: Certified Provider(s) by Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities in Remote Supports.

Preferred: Certified Provider(s) by Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities in Assistive Technology Consultation or Support or ability/willingness to obtain by the beginning of the contract.

6. SELECTION PROCESS:

From a review of the applications received, the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities intends to evaluate and possibly invite one or more provider(s) to be interviewed before making a final selection for services. The Board will notify selected provider(s) of the date and times of any interview. The Board reserves the right to select provider(s) based solely on application received. All applicants will be scored based on the rubric provided below.

The provider(s) selected based on qualifications will then enter into a contract with the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The annual contract amount will be $10000.00 to cover costs for equipment, consultation, and remote support monitoring as needed.

7. APPLICATION PACKET REQUIREMENTS:

The cover letter shall include:

· Summary why the Provider believes they are the most qualified;

· The statement that, to the best of the Provider’s abilities, all information

contained in a complete and accurate application;

· A statement granting the Board and its representatives’ authorization to contact

any references; and

· At least one copy of the cover letter must have the original signature of the CEO or Authorized Representative of the provider agency.

The sealed envelope in which the applications are delivered must be clearly labeled on the outside with the Respondent’s name and the project identification, “WCBDD Remote Support Provider Qualifications Packet”.

Upon submission of the electronic application, you will receive an e-mail confirmation of receipt. If you do not receive an e-mail confirmation within one business day, please call Rhonda Kendall at 419-352- 5115.

It is preferred that the application be typed.

C. Modifications and withdrawal : Provider may modify their application by submitting a new application at any time prior to the scheduled closing time for receipt of application. The revised application must state it supersedes and replaces the previous statement of interest. Applications may be withdrawn by written request if received from the Provider prior to the scheduled closing time for receipt of application.

8. RESERVATION OF RIGHTS:

A. The Board reserves the right to reject all providers, decline to proceed with selection of any candidates, to request additional qualifications, and to make inquiries as may be necessary to verify qualifications.

B. Nothing in this document shall require the Board to proceed with a contract for services.

9. ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS, NOTIFICATIONS and INFORMATION:

A. The Board reserves the sole right to (1) evaluate the applications submitted; (2) waive any irregularities therein; (3) reject any or all applicants submitting applications, should it be deemed in the Board’s best interest to do so; (4) to make selection based solely on qualifications without an interview process; (5) to negotiate a contract with the provider it believes can best meet the needs of the program.

WOOD COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES LAUNCHES YOUTH ADVENTURE CLUB WITH OPENING COOKOUT ON NOVEMBER 14

Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) is excited to announce the launch of the Wood County Youth Adventure Club — a brand-new program designed to spark curiosity, build leadership skills, and foster meaningful connections through outdoor exploration and adventure.

To celebrate, WCBDD - in collaboration with Wood County Park District - invites youth and their families to an Opening Cookout on Friday, November 14, from 4:30PM to 6:00PM at Bradner Park Shelter House, 11491 Fostoria Road in Bradner, Ohio.

This kickoff event will feature a cozy campfire, s’mores, outdoor games, team challenges, and the chance to learn more about the adventures ahead. Youth ages 8 to 16 are encouraged to come with their loved ones to meet the crew, enjoy good food and fun, and discover how they can be part of this exciting new club.

“The Youth Adventure Club is about more than just exploring the outdoors - it’s about building confidence, friendships, and leadership skills that last a lifetime,” said Claire Griffith, WCBDD Recreation Program Specialist and Youth Adventure Club Leader. “We’re excited to partner with the Park District to give youth an opportunity to connect with nature and each other in new and meaningful ways.”

The Youth Adventure Club will offer a variety of activities throughout the year, including hikes, outdoor skills building, teamwork experiences, and leadership development opportunities- all designed to help young people grow while having fun.

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities is requesting statements of qualifications for professional consulting services for a new inclusive playground for the Wood Lane School located at 1921 E. Gypsy Lane Road. The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities intends to review and rank the submitted statements of qualifications, then enter into a contract with the most qualified firm. Wood County Special Olympics to Host 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Dolores A. Black Gymnasium and Athlete Banquet

Bowling Green, OH – Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) and Wood County Special Olympics (WCSO) are proud to announce a special event celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Dolores A. Black Gymnasium, along with a heartfelt Athlete Banquet, on Thursday, August 22, from 5:00–7:00 PM. The celebration will take place at the Dolores A. Black Gymnasium, located at the Bowling Green Community Center: 1245 W. Newton Road.

This event is open to the public and designed to honor both the legacy of Dolores A. Black—a passionate advocate and champion for inclusive recreation—and the outstanding athletes who represent Wood County Special Olympics.

“The Dolores A. Black Gymnasium has left a lasting impression not only on our athletes, but on the entire Wood County community,” said Brent Baer, Superintendent of the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Bowling Green, OH – June 11, 2025 — The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) invites the community to join us this Friday at 8:30 AM near the Bocce Courts at our main campus as we give a high-energy send-off to our incredible Wood County Special Olympics athletes heading to the 2025 State Summer Games in Columbus!

This year’s team includes 11 track athletes and 4 bocce athletes, and we’re especially proud to be cheering on several first-time State Games participants! It’s a big moment—and we want to make it unforgettable.

We'll be departing at 9:00 AM, but before we hit the road, we’re planning a celebration complete with pom-poms, noisemakers, and confetti cannons to get everyone pumped up and ready to compete.

All are welcome—whether you're a family member, friend, staff member, or community supporter, your presence and encouragement make a world of difference to our athletes.

REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS (RFQ) CERTIFIED PROVIDER FOR MULTIPLE RESIDENTIAL RESPITE AND HOMEMAKER PERSONAL CARE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE WOOD COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities is soliciting applications from qualified certified providers interested in providing Short Term Residential Respite Services for children and adults as well as Homemaker Personal Care Services in a residential short-term stabilization setting for multi-system youth, ages 10-17, served by the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Provider(s) with relevant experience and qualifications are encouraged to submit an application. The purpose of the RFQ process is to identify the most qualified provider(s) for these settings. The Board reserves the right to make the selection based solely on the qualifications submitted without conducting a formal interview process. This application process is not subject to public bidding under O.R.C. 307.86(D). Once selected by the Board, the provider(s) will be responsible for delivering short-term residential respite services and/or Homemaker/Personal Care (H/PC) services, depending on the specific needs of the contracted home(s).

Services focus on maintaining safety, structure, and well-being, while coordinating interdisciplinary support for each child’s individualized service plan (ISP).
Required Provider Deliverables : 24/7 staffing availability, ability for an emergency placement within 4-6 hours of referral, adherence to all services identified in the individualized service plans, crisis management, trauma-informed care practices, 2 coordination of delegated nursing services, coordination of family reunification and maintaining a safe and engaging environment.
Preferred Provider Deliverables: Behavioral health services (therapy, counseling, medication management), agency vehicles available for the homes, and enhanced local management support
Location : two 4 bed adjacent homes in Bowling Green, OH.
Service Area B: Short-Term Residential Respite Services
Overview of Service : Emergent Short-term residential respite care for individuals aged 18 and older, offering safe, temporary support in a home-like environment while providing essential daily care and medical oversight.
Required Provider Deliverables : 24/7 staffing availability, medical and psychological transport, delegated nursing for medication administration, and adherence to individualized service plans.
Preferred Provider Deliverables : Agency vehicle for the home, Non-medical transportation certification, recreational/community transportation, enhanced local management support and behavioral health support.
Location: 4 bed home in Perrysburg, OH.
Service Area C: Short-Term Residential Respite Services
Overview of Service : Planned, short-term residential respite care for individuals aged 18 and older, offering safe, temporary support in a home-like environment while providing essential daily care and medical oversight.

Required Provider Deliverables : 24/7 staffing availability, delegated nursing for medication administration, adherence to individualized service plans, awake overnight staffing, local management with child-care expertise, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, and transport to medical, psychological, and educational appointments.
Preferred Provider Deliverables : Capacity for additional behavioral health services and tailored educational support programs.
Location : 4 bed accessible home in Rossford, OH.

LOCATIONS:

Available Properties and Their Designations: Two properties designated for multi-system youth care (Bowling Green), one property for traditional adult respite services (Portage), one property for emergent adult respite services (Perrysburg), and one property dedicated to children’s residential respite services (Rossford). Each property is maintained and owned by the county.
Property Management and Maintenance Responsibilities: The county will handle property maintenance, while certified providers will be responsible for creating and maintaining a clean, safe, and home-like environment for residents.
Standard of Living responsibilities: Provider will provide and prepare healthy food options; maintain a safe and clean home environment and maintain oversight and management of personal spending for any Individual per the ISP if applicable.
Each home will be judged as a separate entity. Certified Provider(s) may submit an application for one, two, all, etc. locations.
Option A: All 5 locations (respite homes & MSY homes)
Option B: MSY homes (2)
Option C: Respite homes (3)
Option D: Children’s option (MSY homes and children’s respite home)
Option E: Adult respite homes (2)
Option F: Any one or combination of respite homes (1, 2 or 3)

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum: Certified Provider(s) by Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities in Homemaker Personal Care & Residential Respite or ability to obtain by September 15, 2025.

SELECTION PROCESS:

The provider(s) selected based on qualifications will then enter into a contract with the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Provider(s) should identify their requested annual cost per bed in the application process. The annual cost per bed will be paid in monthly installments. For individuals on an HCBS Waiver, the selected provider(s) will have the opportunity to bill Homemaker Personal Care or Residential Respite. For individuals not on an HCBS Waiver, the provider(s) will be able to bill the County Board at a rate of $200.00 for residential respite and $33.36 per hour of homemaker personal care service.

Agency mission, location of main branch and offices, and number of individuals currently served.
Name of the CEO and/or Authorized Representative of the agency.
Provide answers (90 words or less) to each of the following:
Identify which option provider is applying for i
Summary of why the Provider believes they are the most qualified.
Capacity for transportation.
Process for delegated nursing.
Experience working with multi-system youth (if applicable).
Identify requested annual cost per bed.
Provide an optimal start date to begin providing services.

The sealed envelope in which the applications are delivered must be clearly labeled on the outside with the Respondent’s name and the project identification, “WCBDD Respite and HPC Qualifications Packet”.

It is preferred that the application be typed.

Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to announce the annual Community Honor Awards Ceremony , a prestigious event recognizing individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the developmental disabilities’ community. This year’s ceremony will take place on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Nazareth Hall in Grand Rapids, OH.

The Community Honor Awards Ceremony is a heartfelt celebration of those who go above and beyond to create a more inclusive and supportive world for individuals with developmental disabilities. The evening will feature inspiring stories, well-deserved recognitions, and a chance to celebrate the dedication of community members who embody advocacy, service, and achievement.

The event will honor recipients in seven distinct award categories :

The Cammi Chamberlain "Pillar of Character" Award – Recognizing an WCBDD employee who exemplifies trust, respect, care, fairness and responsibility.
The Community Impact Award – Honoring a person or group who continuously goes above and beyond to make a positing impact in the community for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Empowering Minds Award – Celebrating those who have made outstanding contributions to volunteering, advocating, educating, or raising awareness for developmental disabilities in the community.

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) is thrilled to announce its 1st Annual Community Art Show in celebration of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month . Throughout March, WCBDD has hosted a variety of events honoring this important month, and the excitement continues with this special showcase.

WCBDD recognizes the power of art to strengthen communities both socially and educationally. Art serves as a platform for creativity, self-expression, and inspiration. This year’s show will feature over 35 unique pieces created by local artists , including 6th to 8th grade students from area schools, individuals served by WCBDD, and participants in recreational art programs.

We invite the community to join us in celebrating these talented artists! Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite artwork, with first, second, and third-place prizes awarded. This is a free event, open to the public, and will include light refreshments.

While Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month has been nationally recognized since 1987 by President Ronald Reagan, WCBDD remains committed to fostering engagement and celebrating community relationships year-round. Upcoming events include:

HELP US KICK OFF DD AWARENESS MONTH AT THE CELEBRITY BASKETBALL GAME!

Wood County Board of Development Disabilities (WCBDD) is pleased to announce its 6th Annual Celebrity Basketball Game on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Dolores Black Gymnasium located in the BG Community Center.

Throughout the month of March and the remainder of the year, WCBDD will host a variety of events to increase awareness in our community about individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our greatest hope is to promote integration for and inclusion of ALL people within their communities.

The Celebrity Basketball game will feature our Special Olympics Wood County Wildcat basketball athletes battling a team of local celebrities. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and events will start 30 minutes later. The night will begin by featuring the blue and silver wildcat basketball teams. There will be two 30-minute games with a running clock.

This year, we are making it even more celebratory by inviting our guests and celebrities to wear their best “black-tie affair” outfits. Come in your best-dressed formal, or funny formal, attire to celebrate the evening in style! Our celebrities will walk out on a red carpet and even receive small golden awards.

Please bring a non-perishable food item for admission . The advocacy groups People First and Aktion Club will be collecting items to donate to a local food bank and they will also be selling popcorn.

There are several fun activities planned for the game this year:

A professional DJ and announcer will provide additional entertainment.
Elmwood pep band and cheerleaders will be there!
There will be a half-court contest and a chance to win a prize.
AND much more!

WCBDD is seeking additional local “celebrities” to participate in the Celebrity Basketball Game. This may include local officials and representatives, law enforcement, business owners, news teams, sports stars and more. Although Developmental Disabilities Month is celebrated in March, it is our mission to celebrate inclusion, and educate beyond the month of March. Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) is excited to share its newly appointed board member, Virginia Nuzum.

Virginia is an active member of the Bowling Green community. Not only is she employed at two agencies within Wood County, but she also currently participates in several Wood County Special Olympics sports and participates in many of the recreation events offered by WCBDD. When not working, Virginia may be found utilizing her green thumb at the various greenhouse and gardening programs at the WCBDD greenhouse.

Nuzum has previously participated as an active member of the advocacy groups at WCBDD, Aktion Club and People First. These groups are specifically dedicated to guiding individuals served to use their voice and partake in community service projects.

The direct quote Virginia used when asked what she was most anticipating as a newly appointed board member confirms her shared values of the mission, vision, and values of WCBDD. “Helping others.”

It is evident that her concerns and passion to advocate for the possible services and programs for individuals served in Wood County are equivalent to that of WCBDD.

Brent Baer, WCBDD Superintendent, shares his excitement on the appointment of Virginia. “ The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities is looking forward to working with Virginia Nuzum in her role as a board member. WCBDD will benefit greatly from her wisdom of lived experience in implementing our strategic initiatives to meet the needs of those we serve. Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) is excited to share its new, inclusive addition with individuals served, families, and caregivers: its own Universal Changing Unit.

The Universal Changing Unit is an accessible space for companion care and inclusion, providing individuals served and those with mobility limitations a safe, clean, and dignified setting for personal care. It also allows the caretaker to comfortably and safely assist with personal care needs for those who may be unable to care for themselves.

Our Universal Changing Unit is conveniently equipped with the following:

- Height adjustable adult-size changing table (battery powered)

- Mobile lift (battery powered)

- Sink for handwashing

- FULLY accessible

- *Users will bring their own hygiene supplies and sling.

Are you hosting an event soon? Bring accessibility to your next event by reserving our Universal Changing Unit at NO COST! Our goal is to spread inclusion, everywhere, and this is just one way to support the individuals in our community and those beyond.

By choosing to reserve the Universal Changing Unit at your next event, here are some details to keep in mind:

The unit is useful for people with and without disabilities, everyone from parents with their infant children to adults who need some help with personal hygiene with the use of a height-adjustable changing table and/or the lift. Our partners at the Wood County Fair, Black Swamp Arts Festival, and Down Syndrome Association of Greater Toledo have offered the unit so far and we look forward to expanding our reach in 2025!"

Wood County Special Olympics is thrilled to announce its 27 ^th Annual Dinner and Fundraiser in support of our Wood County Wildcats on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Glass City Boardwalk from 6PM to 10PM. We warmly invite you to join us for a night of fun, camaraderie, and support for Wood County Special Olympics. The fundraiser will include a reverse raffle with the chance to win a $10,000 grand prize! Glass City Boardwalk is located at 27820 E. Broadway St. in Walbridge, Ohio.

Since its creation in 1970, Wood County Special Olympics has sponsored over 500 youth and adult athletes served by Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities. This program offers year-round training and competitions in nine different sports, including local, state, and regional games.

Participation in sports goes beyond the experiences of training and competition. Involvement in Special Olympics gives people access to physical fitness, growth in self-confidence, and a chance to expand their circle of relationships in the community. LET YOUR ABILITIES SHINE AT THE WOOD COUNTY FAIR!

Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) and Wood County Fair have partnered together to offer an inclusive experience at the 2024 Wood County Fair on Thursday, August 1 ^st , from 9AM to 1:30PM.

“Let Your Abilities Shine” is an opportunity for individuals served by any county board to experience the Wood County Fair in a way that honors and celebrates developmental disabilities. There are several activities and opportunities available:

1. WCBDD Recreation Team will be offering fun-filled, inclusive activities in the large tent located at Entrance A1.

2. Guided animal tours will be offered by Wood County Fair members and WCBDD staff, starting in the large tent at Entrance A1.

3. Wood County Fair will be offering an exclusive ride time for individuals to ride in a more sensory-friendly environment.

4. The Ring of Dreams Livestock Show will begin at 5:30PM.

5. A Sensory Room has been appropriately designed and created by members of WCBDD and Wood County Fair Board. It will be located in the Jr. Fair Building.

Individuals served, along with support staff, may enter the Wood County Fair for FREE between the hours of 9AM and 1:30PM. Those transporting large groups are asked to park and enter through Entrance A. Smaller groups and vehicles are asked to park and enter through Entrance B. You do not have to show proof of receiving services from your county board to enter.

Throughout the entire week of the fair, Wood County Board of DD will also have its NEW Universal Changing Unit available, providing individuals served and those with mobility limitations a safe, clean, inclusive, and dignified space for personal care. The Universal Changing Unit will be located near the Grandstands.

WOOD COUNTY SPECIAL OLYMPICS ATHLETES HEADED TO STATE SUMMER GAMES AT OSU

Wood County Special Olympics athletes, coaches, and volunteers are headed to Columbus on Friday, June 28th to compete in the 2024 State Summer Games at The Ohio State University. Wood County Special Olympics, better known as Wood County Wildcats, will have 21 total athletes attending State Games competing in track and field, bocce, and power lifting.

On Friday, June 28 ^th , Wood County Special Olympics will have a sendoff celebration, starting at 8AM, with music, confetti and more at Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities Campus, located at 1921 E. Gypsy Lane Road. Wood County Law Enforcement, Wood County Fire Department. and State Highway Patrol are coming to WCBDD campus to help celebrate and send our crew off safely to Columbus. We invite our community to join us in celebration!

Wood County Special Olympics has 15 Track and Field athletes competing in Summer State Games:

Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities has operated the Special Olympics program since its creation in 1970 for youth and adults served in Wood County. Today, there are more than 450 active participants in Special Olympics sports throughout Wood County.

Wood County Special Olympics offers 9 different sport opportunities ranging from basketball, volleyball, softball, swimming, and more. You are eligible to participate if you are age 8 and older. Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) now provides an inclusive online experience to enable website visitors to access online content and services barrier-free.

As part of our diversity and inclusion strategy, website visitors are now able to access a wide range of accessibility and language support tools to customize their digital experience through Recite Me assistive technology.

Being able to offer an inclusive experience is essential to support over 25% of the population who may encounter barriers when exploring our website due to having a disability, learning difficulty, visual impairment, or if they speak English as a second language.

The Recite Me assistive toolbar on the WCBDD website includes screen reading functionality, multiple reading aids, customizable styling options an on-demand live translation feature that boasts over 100 languages including 65 text-to-speech and styling options.

WOOD COUNTY SPECIAL OLYMPICS TO HOST 1 ^ST ANNUAL YOUTH FIELD DAY

Wood County Special Olympics athletes and coaches are excited to announce the 1 ^st Annual Wood County Special Olympics Youth Field Day on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from Noon to 2PM. The field day will take place at Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities Campus located at, 1921 E. Gypsy Lane Road in Bowling Green.

Participating in Special Olympics goes beyond training and competing. It is an opportunity to discover new strengths and abilities, enhance physical fitness and self-confidence, and make new friends along the way! The Youth Field Day is for children between the ages of 8 and 13 with a diagnosed intellectual/developmental disability. Our goal is for the children to come and see what Special Olympics in Wood County is all about in hopes to show the amazing opportunities available in the program.

This event is open to 50 children at NO COST. The deadline to register is April 22 ^nd . All registered children will receive a FREE T-shirt and fun give-a-ways! There are two ways to register:

The Youth Field Day will allow children the opportunity to participate in several sport stations including basketball, bocce, flag football, and track and field. Josie Mazza, Special Olympics Coach and Recreation/Wellness Specialist is excited for this event! “Our goal in hosting this event is to reach young athletes interested in Special Olympics and offer the opportunity to learn from our very own Wood County Special Olympic Wildcats that have competed all over Ohio and even national games in Florida! We are hoping to grow our young athletes’ program in Wood County and continue the amazing sportsmanship, memories, and friendships that are developed through participating in Special Olympics.”

Jen Krouse, Wood County Special Olympics Local Coordinator and Recreation/Wellness Manager, says this is an event she has been looking forward to for quite some time. “We are hosting our first ever Wood County Special Olympics Youth Field Day! This event is a fun and interactive way for youth to participate in several different sports and hear directly from current participating Special Olympics athletes on their personal experience. The Aktion Club of Wood County Board of Development Disabilities (WCBDD) is pleased to announce they will be hosting the 2024 Community Honors Awards Banquet on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 6PM-9PM at Nazareth Hall. Nazareth Hall is located at 21211 W. River Road in Grand Rapids.

The Community Honors Award Banquet is a night of recognition to honor Wood County community members, individuals served, and employees of Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities for their achievements, dedication, and support to the developmental disabilities’ community of Wood County. We encourage you to join us in celebration as we recognize those individuals.

We strongly encourage you to nominate a person, group, business, or organization for a community honors award to recognize them for their positive impact and achievements. There are seven award categories:

1. The Community Impact Award: This recognition award honors a person, group, business, or organization who continuously goes above and beyond to make a positive impact in the community for individuals with developmental disabilities. The impact may be the result of any number of extraordinary efforts.

2. The Cammi Chamberlain Pillar of Character Awar d: This award recognizes the exemplary services and character provided by an employee at Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities. This person consecutively goes the extra mile to support, empower, and inspire all those associated with WCBDD. This person exemplifies trust, respect, care, fairness, and responsibility.

3. Volunteer of the Year Award: This award honors a volunteer who gives their time and talents throughout the year to enrich the lives of individuals served by Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

4. The Empowering Minds Award: This award honors an individual, with or without a developmental disability, who has contributed significant effort volunteering, advocating, educating, or raising awareness for developmental disabilities in the community.

5. I ndividual Achievement Award : This award recognizes and honors an individual receiving services from Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities for his or her success in personal achievements.

6. The Young Pioneer Award : This award honors a family of a young child who receives services from Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities who supports the Board by promoting services, raising awareness, and/or advocating on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities.

7. Helping Hands Award : This award honors a provider who goes above and beyond to support individuals with developmental disabilities and help them live life to the fullest in the community. The award may be presented to an individual provider or an agency.

WOOD COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES PRESENTS 5 ^TH ANNUAL CELEBRITY BASKETBALL GAME TO CELEBRATE DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

Wood County Board of Development Disabilities (WCBDD) is pleased to announce its 5th Annual Celebrity Basketball Game on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 5:30PM-7:30PM at the Dolores Black Gymnasium located in the BG Community Center. Throughout the month of March, and the remainder of the year 2024, WCBDD will be hosting a variety of events in an effort to increase awareness in our community about individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our greatest hope is to promote integration for and inclusion of ALL people within their communities.

The Celebrity Basketball game will feature our Special Olympics Wood County Wildcat basketball athletes battling a team of local celebrities. Doors will open at 5PM and events will start at 5:30PM. The night will begin by featuring our Blue and Silver Wildcat basketball teams. There will be two 30- minutes games with a running clock. Please bring a non-perishable food item for admission. Our Advocacy groups, People First and Aktion Club, will be collecting items to donate to a local food bank and they will also be selling popcorn!

We have several fun activities planned for the game this year:

· A professional DJ and announcer will be there for additional entertainment.

· There will be a half-court contest and a chance to win a prize!

· Elmwood Pep Band will be performing throughout the night.

· 50\50 Drawing

WCBDD is seeking additional local “celebrities” to participate in the Celebrity Basketball Game. This may include local officials and representatives, law enforcement, business owners, News Teams, and more. WOOD COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES ANNOUNCES PROGRAM YEAR POLICY FOR FREE MEALS

Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) announced its 2023-2024 program year policy of free and reduced price meals for students unable to pay the full price of meals or milk served under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast, After School Care Snack or Special Milk Programs. Each school office and the central office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by any interested party.

The Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines will be used to determine eligibility. Children from families whose annual income is at or below the federal guidelines are eligible for free and reduced-price meals or free milk if the school participates in the Special Milk Program.

Application forms are distributed to all homes in a letter to parents or guardians. To apply for free and reduced-price benefits, households should complete an application and return it to the school. Additional copies are available at the principal’s office in each school. A complete application is required. Households which currently receive Special Nutrition Assistance Program Benefits (SNAP, formally known as food stamps) or Ohio Works First (OWF) funds for a child must provide the child’s name, the SNAP or OWF case number and signature of an adult household member on the application. Households that do not receive SNAP or OWF funds must provide the names of all household members, the last four digits of the Social Security Number of the adult signing the application or state “none” if the adult does not have a Social Security Number, the amount and source of income received by each household member, and the signature of an adult household member. If any of this information is missing, the school cannot process the application.

FREE HEALTH CARE: Families with children eligible for school meals may be eligible for free health care coverage through Medicaid and/or Ohio’s Healthy Start & Healthy Families programs. These programs include coverage for doctor visits, immunizations, physicals, prescriptions, dental, vision, mental health, substance abuse and more. Please call 1-800-324-8680 for more information or to request an application. Information can also be found on the web at http://jfs.ohio.gov/ohp/consumers/familychild.stm . Anyone who has an Ohio Medicaid card is already receiving these services.

The information provided on the application is confidential and will only be used for the purpose of determining eligibility and may be verified at any time during the school year by school or other program official. To discourage the possibility of misrepresentation, the application forms contain a statement above the space for signature certifying that all information furnished is true and correct. Applications are being made in connection with the receipt of federal funds. Schools or other officials may check the information on the application at any time during the school year. Deliberate misrepresentation of information may subject the applicant to prosecution under applicable state and federal laws.

Households will be notified of the approval or denial of benefits.

Foster children are categorically eligible for free meal benefits regardless of the household’s income. If a family has foster children living with them and wishes to apply for such meals or milk for them, contact the school for more information.

Under the provision of the policy, WCBDD will review applications and determine eligibility. If a parent or guardian disagrees with the decision on the application or the result of verification, the decision may be discussed with the determining official on an informal basis. If a formal appeal is desired, the household has the right to a fair hearing. A fair hearing can be requested either orally or in writing from:

Households may apply for benefits any time during the school year. If a household is not currently eligible and if the household size increases or income decreases because of unemployment or other reasons, the family should contact the school to file a new application. Such changes may make the children of the family eligible for free or reduced-price benefits if the family income falls at or below the levels shown above.

WCBDD WELCOMES SIBLINGS, AGE 7-14, TO SIBSHOPS!

Wood County Board of Development Disabilities (WCBDD) is pleased to announce that Sibshops are now being offered in Wood County! Sibshops are fun opportunities providing young brothers and sisters who have a sibling with a developmental disability the chance to learn and make connections to other siblings in the community. These opportunities include:

Meet other sibs (usually for the first time).
Have fun!
Talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sib with special needs with others who “get it”.
Play some great games.
Explore how other siblings handle sticky situations sometimes faced by brothers and sisters.
Laugh
Learn about the services their brothers and sister receive, AND…
Have some more fun!

WCBDD currently has two Sibshop facilitators who have been properly trained and certified to host these opportunities and experiences. Charese Botjer, Communications and Community Engagement Manager, and Joe Bernyk, Community Engagement Specialist, are the lead facilitators at WCBDD and are thrilled to see the program flourish over time.

Charese Botjer notes, “Our goal is to provide a safe, supportive, recreational (and FUN) environment for the siblings who have a brother or sister with a disability. Creating this environment will hopefully allow the sibs to create connections and relationships they never had before, learn about the DD system, and perhaps learn more about themselves and their brothers/sisters. Being able to support, empower, and inspire these siblings will be the foundation to the start of something truly wonderful.”

Sibshops will be offered on the second Saturday of each month from 10AM to 12:30PM at Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (1921 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green) in Building B. Our next Sibshops is Saturday, September 9 ^th , at 10AM. Sibshops are also FREE!

Wood County Board of Development Disabilities (WCBDD) is pleased to announce that Amy Webb, the children’s book author of When Charley Met Emma, will be visiting Wood County on Friday, March 10 ^th and Saturday, March 11 ^th for a book reading, signing, and discussion.

When Charley Met Emma teaches kids about disability, empathy, and the beauty of friendships with people who are different from you. Amy Webb is an artist, writer, mother, and creator of the popular blog, This Little Miggy Stayed Home. As a mom for a child with a disability, she advocates for the community through her writings and interviews on her blog.

Her work has been featured in The Mighty, Design*Sponge as well as interviews in DesignMom, MotherMag and the print publication, Lunch Lady Magazine. Amy lives with her husband and three beautiful daughters in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Wood County District Public Library, located at 251 N Main Street in Bowling Green, will host Amy Webb on Friday, March 10 ^th from 4:30PM to 6PM. During this time, Amy Webb will read her book, provide a book signing, and an open discussion will follow. This event is FREE and open to the public.

On Saturday, March 11 ^th , The Golden Vanity will host Amy Webb from 9am to Noon. Along with the book reading, signing, and open discussion, a breakfast charcuterie board and light refreshments will be provided. One copy of the book, When Charly Met Emma, will also be given to each family who attends the event, courtesy of WCBDD and Wood County Early Intervention. WOOD COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES PRESENTS 4 ^TH ANNUAL CELEBRITY BASKETBALL GAME TO CELEBRATE DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

Wood County Board of Development Disabilities (WCBDD) is pleased to announce its 4 ^th Annual Celebrity Basketball Game on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, from 5:30PM-7:30PM at the Dolores Black Gymnasium at the BG Community Center. Throughout the month of March, and the remainder of the year 2023, WCBDD will be hosting a variety of events in an effort to increase awareness in our community about individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our greatest hope is to promote integration for and inclusion of ALL people within their communities.

The Celebrity Basketball game will feature our Special Olympics Wood County Wildcat basketball athletes battling a team of local celebrities. Doors will open at 5PM and events will start at 5:30PM. The night will begin by featuring our Basketball Skills athletes, showing off the skills they have learned this season. Following, there will be two 30- minutes games with a running clock. Please bring a non-perishable food item for admission. Our Advocacy groups, People First and Aktion Club, will be collecting items to donate to a local food bank. Our Venturing Crew members will also be in attendance to recruit new members!

We have several fun activities planned for the game this year:

· A professional DJ and announcer will be there for additional entertainment.

· There will be a half-court contest and a chance to win a small prize.

· BGSU mascots, Freddie and Freida, will be in attendance.

· A performance from iDance Adaptive Performing Arts Center.

WCBDD is seeking additional local “celebrities” to participate in the Celebrity Basketball Game. This may include local officials and representatives, law enforcement, business owners, News Teams, and more. REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS (RFQ) Certified Provider for Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities

REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS (RFQ) CERTIFIED PROVIDER FOR SHORT-TERM CHILDREN’S RESIDENTIAL RESPITE SERVICES FOR THE WOOD COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities is soliciting applications from qualified certified providers interested in providing Short-Term Residential Respite Services for children, ages 3-17, served by the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Provider(s) with relevant experience and qualifications are encouraged to submit an application. The purpose of the RFQ process is to identify the most qualified provider(s) for the Children’s Respite Home. The Board reserves the right to make the selection based solely on the qualifications submitted without conducting a formal interview process. This application process is not subject to public bidding under O.R.C. 307.86(D) The provider(s) ultimately selected by the Board will provide full Short-Term Residential respite services for children, as directed by the Board.

1. RESPONSES :

b. All questions must be submitted in writing by January 30, 2023 by 4:30 p.m. All questions will receive a response within two (2) business days. No questions will be accepted verbally and beyond the time listed.

2. SCOPE OF SERVICES:

Required Provider Deliverables:

Maintain services in the residential respite setting in accordance with the ISP.

Transport to all medical and psychological appointments, if needed.

Transport to school, if needed.

Coordinate delegated nursing services for medication administration, if needed.

Within 4-6 hours of referral, provider will plan to transition individual to the home.

Provide and prepare healthy food options for duration of stay.

Serve any individuals three years of age to seventeen years of age.

Maintain a safe & clean home environment.

Respite staff should be available 24 hours per day / 7 days a week.

Provide awake overnight staff.

Provide daytime staff if school/day services are not available or appropriate.

Provide a local respite manager who has experience working with children.

Ability to manage spending money for individual as identified per ISP.

Maintain DODD certification in Residential Respite.

3. REVIEW AND PROVIDER SELECTION SCHEDULE :

The schedule is as follows:

Issuance of RFQ – January 20, 2023

Final date to submit questions – January 30, 2023

Application due – March 3, 2023 by 4:30 pm

Selection of providers for interviews – March 10, 2023

Interviews of Selected Providers – March 22 – March 24, 2023

Proposed Provider notification (board action required) – On or around April 3, 2023

Board action – April 17th

Contract Commencement – July 1, 2023

4. LOCATIONS:

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities desires to expand respite services for children throughout the county. In doing so, the county will make available one (1) property in Wood County. The county will own and maintain the property. Certified Provider(s) may apply for this location.

5. REQUIREMENTS :

Minimum: Certified Provider(s) by Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities in Homemaker Personal Care & Residential Respite or ability to obtain by March 22, 2023.

6. SELECTION PROCESS :

The provider(s) selected based on qualifications will then enter into a contract with the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Provider(s) should identify their requested annual cost per bed in the application process. The annual cost per bed will be paid in monthly installments. For individuals on an HCBS Waiver, the selected provider(s) will have the opportunity to bill Residential Respite. For individuals not on an HCBS Waiver, the provider(s) will be able to bill the County Board at a rate of $150.00 for each overnight stay.

7. APPLICATION PACKET REQUIREMENTS :

A. Application Content: Each Submittal shall be organized in the following order:

1. Cover Letter: The cover letter shall include:

o The statement that, to the best of the Provider’s abilities, all information contained in a complete and accurate application;

o A statement granting the Board and its representatives’ authorization to contact any references; and

o At least one copy of the cover letter must have the original signature of the CEO or Authorized Representative of the provider agency.

2. Completed Application

a. Provide in 500 words or less a brief narrative regarding:

i. Agency mission

ii. Experience providing short term residential respite

iii. Name of the CEO and/or Authorized Representative of the agency

iv. Location of main and branch offices

v. Identify how many individuals they serve

b. Provide a brief narrative describing:

i. Summary why the Provider believes they are the most qualified

ii. Staffing plan to meet the deliverables and timelines identified within this RFQ. Include hiring, retention and back up plans.

iii. Capacity for transportation.

iv. Process for delegated nursing.

v. Experience working with children.

c. Identify your requested annual cost per bed.

3. Supporting Documentation includin g :

a. Letters of Reference from multiple stakeholders, minimum of three (3)

b. Evidence of Current DODD Provider Certification

B. Submittal Documents – Format

The sealed envelope in which the applications are delivered must be clearly labeled on the outside with the Respondent’s name and the project identification, “WCBDD Short-Term Children’s Residential Respite Provider Qualifications Packet”.

It is preferred that the application be typed.

Wood County Special Olympics is thrilled to announce its 25 ^th Annual Dinner and Auction Fundraiser in support of our Wood County Wildcats on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Graystone Banquet Hall from 6:00PM to 9:00PM. Graystone Hall is located at 29101 Hufford Road in Perrysburg. Doors will open at 5:45PM.

It has been two years since the event was held in person due to the novel COVID-19 pandemic and we are ready now, more than ever, to come together and celebrate our athletes, program, and supportive community members. All proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Wood County Special Olympics Program in purchasing new equipment and uniforms, registration fees, travel and lodging, facility rentals, officials, fuels costs, and more. It even allows the opportunity for growth and expansion of programs and available sports offered!

We thank our sponsors sincerely for their contributions, generosity, and continued support to provide our adult and youth athletes with the quality program they deserve. Kimberly Paxton, Wood County Special Olympics athlete is no stranger when it comes to Special Olympics! “My journey with Special Olympics began when I was 8 years old. 32 years later I still play basketball and swim. I also learned how to play volleyball and became so good at it that I was selected to represent Team Ohio in the USA games in Orlando, FL this past June. I even had the honor of leading Team Ohio into the stadium in the USA Games opening ceremonies!”

Kim says that this past June, she realized that being an athlete is so much more than athletics. “I became part of a team that had athletes from the entire state of Ohio. We worked together, we played together, we bonded together. We all shined as one. Being a part of Team Ohio helped me understand how close we are as Wildcat family. It inspired me to not only be an athlete but to be a cheerleader for my teammates. Without our sponsors each year, this program wouldn’t be where it is today. You are part of our Wildcat family.”

Tickets are sold out for the fundraiser this year! The purchase of a ticket includes your entry into the event and participation in the LIVE and silent auction. It also includes a buffet dinner of prime rib, pecan crusted salmon, stuffed pasta shells, garlic mashed potatoes, Caribbean blend vegetables, salad, rolls, and assorted desserts. Upon admission, our guests receive two complimentary beer or wine tickets, and a cash bar is provided.

Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities Announces Program Year Policy for Free Meals

Wood County Board of Development Disabilities is pleased to announce its 2021-2022 program year policy for free meals for all students under the National School Lunch Program Seamless Summer Option, pursuant to the authority in Section 2202(a) of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. Each school and the central office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by any interested party.

Application forms are being distributed to all homes in a letter to parents and guardians. To apply for free and reduced-price benefits, households should complete an application and return it to the school. Additional copies are available in each school. A complete application form is required. Households which currently receive Special Nutrition Assistance Program Benefits (SNAP, formally known as food stamps) or Ohio Works First (OWF) funds for a child must provide the child’s name, the SNAP or OWF case number, and a signature of an adult household member on the application. Households that do not receive SNAP or OWF funds must provide the names of all household members, the last four digits of the Social Security Number of the adult signing the application, or state “none” if the adult does not have a Social Security Number, the amount and source of income received by each household member, (state the monthly income), and the signature of an adult household member. If any of this information is missing, the school cannot process the application.

FREE HEALTH CARE: Families with children eligible for school meals may be eligible for FREE health care coverage through Medicaid and/or Ohio’s Healthy Start & Healthy Families programs. These programs include coverage for doctor visits, immunizations, physicals, prescriptions, dental, vision, mental health, substance abuse, and more. Please call 1-800-324-8680 for more information or to request the application. Information can also be found at http://jfs.ohio.gov/ohp/consumers/familychild.stm . Anyone who has an Ohio Medicaid card is already receiving these services.

The information provided on the application is confidential and will be used only for the purpose to determine eligibility and may be verified at any time during the school year by school or other program official. To discourage the possibility of misrepresentation, the application forms contain a statement above the space for signature certifying that all information furnished is true and correct. Applications are being made in connection with the receipt of federal funds. Schools or other officials may check the information on the application at any time during the prosecution under applicable state and federal laws.

Households will be notified of the approval or denial of benefits. Foster children are categorically eligible for free meal benefits regardless of the household’s income. If family has foster children living with them and wishes to apply for such meals or milk for them, contact the school for more information.

Under the provision of the policy, Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities will review applications and determine eligibility. If a parent or guardian disagrees with the decision on the application or the result of verification, the decision may be discussed with the determining official on an informal basis. If a formal appeal is desired, the household has the right to a fair hearing. A fair hearing can be requested either orally or in writing from:

WCBDD Grant Funds Release

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) maintains a grant fund in the 2022 budget. The approved budget of WCBDD includes $50,000.00 available for funding creative programs and services. The WCBDD has a specific interest in assuring the availability of inclusive programs and services designed to meet the emerging needs of individuals eligible for county board funding or to expand successful programs and services for individuals eligible for county board funding. Specific emphasis is placed on programs and services that will:

Create safe, inclusive, and positive living, recreational, and working environments
Enable individuals to develop the skills and resources needed to achieve their fullest potential and greatest level of independence

Funds are awarded only to nonprofit, charitable organizations that have been designated as having tax-exempt status under section 50l(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The projected Grant release will utilize the following schedule.

April 18, 2022 – Availability of Grant funds announced.
April 18, 2022 to June 1, 2022 – Applications for Grant Funds accepted
June 2, 2022 to June 10, 2022 – Applications evaluated by committee(s).
June 13, 2022 – Grant Funds awarded at the regular scheduled meeting

The process for review of the applications includes review by the Program, Finance and Ethics Committee of the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The grant funds can be allocated in the full amount of $50,000.00 or divided among qualified applications as determined by the above committees.
