Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities to Send Off Special Olympics Athletes the Right Way to Summer Games
Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) is excited to host a fun send-off celebration to recognize our hard-working Special Olympic athletes heading to Summer Games at The Ohio State University campus.
On Friday, June 24th, at 8:30AM, First Responders will perform a drive-by parade by the Nichols Therapy Pool at WCBDD. Community members, family, and friends are encouraged to participate in the mini-drive-by parade and/or the rally in the parking lot. Posters are also encouraged to cheer on our athletes!
In total, 33 Wood County WildCat athletes will prepare for a weekend full of friendly competitions in Bocce, Track and Field, and Volleyball. Volleyball coach and Recreation Specialist, LeAnn Frankfather is incredibly proud of the athletes. “These athletes have trained hard. It’s going to be exciting to watch them translate the skills they have learned to a court in major competition. Good luck Wildcats!”
Josie Mazza, Recreation & Wellness Specialist and Track & Field coach for the WildCats says, “Catch us if you can! Our fabulous track stars are speeding their way to Columbus to participate in Summer Games. All of the athletes have worked so hard to advance their athletic career with Special Olympics, we are so proud to have worked with such amazing individuals. Come help us cheer them on Friday, June 24th!”
